“I’m very important. I have many leather bound books, and my apartment smells of rich mahogany”.
Ron Burgandy
That’s a great quote from the movie classic, Anchorman… but it’s also exactly how I would describe the feeling I get when drinking this great little bourbon. Why describe a bourbon with a one of my favorite comedic movie quotes?

Well firstly, because I recently sipped it while watching this very movie. But mainly, because like this whiskey, I am not mature. I’m young, and I’m rough around the edges so I’m not going to sit here telling you about the nose and the palate and the finish. I could do that. But that’s just not how I roll. I firmly believe that regardless of how many posh words you throw at a whiskey, what really matters is how it makes you feel when you drink it. How it affects you – and this craft whiskey makes a great first impression.

This is a young, craft whiskey and it behaves as such. Smooth, and light on the burn it’s a pleasure to drink. The sweet mix of vanilla and oak in my first sip immediately transported my mind to a dimly lit speakeasy, and I immediately felt the urge to pair this lovely little bourbon with a good cigar. As I continued my journey, I enjoyed hints of caramel, and corn – ending with a bit of a spicy kick.
All in all this was a thoroughly enjoyable outing with Hudson Baby Bourbon and I highly recommend it. If you’re tired of your usual matured bourbon, and you’re looking for something with a bit more pep, give this a go. It’s kind of a big deal.
